Get A Cavity Treatment for Kids from Light Breeze Dental

We offer a cavity treatment for kids that will restore your child's tooth, even after decay begins to occur. Cavities happen so frequently that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, CDC, has labeled them a serious infectious disease. Cavities account for more days missed from school than most all other health problems, besides the common cold and flu.

Thus, it is critical that you take your child to our dentist office for regular cleanings and examinations. Any form of delay can result in a higher risk of tooth decay.

Why Regular Dental Cleanings and Exams Are Important for Your Child

Regular visits will prevent cavities from forming and also allow us to identify any cavities early so that the treatment can be over quickly and efficiently. The sooner we treat the cavity, the better chance we have of preventing it from spreading to other teeth in the child's mouth. Therefore, if your child complains of a toothache or that their mouth hurts, take them seriously. It may be a cavity, so scheduling an examination is in their best interest.

Steps in a Cavity Treatment for Kids

How we proceed will depend on the extent of the decay, the age of your child and their comfort level with receiving dental work. In general, here are some of the necessary steps.

Examination

We will need to start by examining your child' teeth so that we can determine if they have a cavity and the extent of said cavity.

X-rays

If there are large or extensive amounts of decay, we may also want to take X-rays. This allows us to see how far the decay is spreading inside the tooth and if there is an infection. Essentially, we need to understand the full extent of the problem to ensure that we do not leave any decayed or infected areas behind.

Preparation

We will prepare your child by placing a bib around their neck and showing them the tools that we will be using.

Numbing

To ensure their complete comfort, we will numb the area around the tooth we will be working on during the procedure. This way, the child will not feel anything while we treat their cavity. They will still hear the noise of everything but the process will be comfortable and over before they know it.

Removing the decay

We must remove all decayed portions of the tooth to ensure that it does not continue to spread and cause damage. We will complete this step as quickly as possible.

Cleaning the area

We will then need to thoroughly clean the area of decay and debris before we can fill it.

Placing a filling

We use tooth colored fillings whenever possible so that they blend in with your child's natural teeth. No one will be able to tell that they had dental work done and the restoration will look natural.
